On June 2, 2016, Clark Hudson successfully defended a medical clinic, electrophysiologist, and nurse practitioner in a case of alleged malpractice, wherein plaintiffs alleged the defendants negligently provided care to a plaintiff who suffered a stroke.
Specifically, plaintiffs alleged defendants violated the standard of care by failing to properly manage plaintiff’s anticoagulation therapy following a surgery, which in turn caused his stroke and related injuries. Defendants contended their care and treatment of plaintiff was appropriate and within the standard of care. The defendants also maintained the management of plaintiff’s anticoagulation was appropriate and did not cause his injuries. Further, defendants-maintained plaintiff did not follow his doctors’ advice after surgery.
After hearing all arguments, the case went to the jury for deliberations on June 2, 2016. After approximately 90 minutes of deliberations, the jury returned a defense verdict, finding neither the doctor nor the nurse practitioner was negligent.
